Out Of's Mission
Music is for us a universal language facilitating communication between people.
Out Of: A world of exchange and a place to meet for all those interested in other cultures; to foster intercultural dialogue through musical perspectives and other artistic expressions is our reason for playing; the simultaneous creation at concerts, music workshops and public gatherings of unique and diversiform melodies.
World Music
Of different origins, but united by our passion, we place our instruments and our musical universes at the service of global harmony; an unparalleled “instrumentarium” where Western sounds and oriental rhythms merge; where the dulcet voice of the Oud responds to the piano’s melody, to the hot breath of the saxophone; where oriental, Brazilian, Japanese and Jazzy influences intersect without ever colliding.

A Word from the Artistic Director
« Music has been freely entrusted to musicians but belongs to the airy breeze. »
I teach classical percussion and jazz piano at the Conservatoire de Nȋmes. A few years ago, I created an oriental “music ensemble” class, a kind of musical culture class; an original ensemble where Ouds and Western “classical” instruments blend: violin, cello, saxophone, piano, contrabass ….
I learned a great deal from this experience.
First, that the traditional folk music of Morocco, Mauritania, Japan and the Balkans…. whose mystery is more dazzling- defined by the briefness of its spark- are magical melodies falling like morning dew on attentive memories.
Furthermore, the eclectic mix of the instruments had the power to create an impressive homophony unforeseen by Arab tradition and possessed of rare educational value: to show everyone ways other than that of the all-powerful Oriental culture.
Since each piece has its own story. A bit like the Ouds that it is not enough for you to own, but which you must discover. An instrument that one must deserve rather than use, it induces another relationship to music; from the compelling need of each musician to possess an instrument whose history he has made.
Finally, I realized the power of the collective adventure.
We wanted to extend this collective adventure by forming Out Of.
Somewhat by commitment, much by the desire for adventures and tensions resulting from the unknown group of notes that will follow.

Artistic Director Out Of
- Music streams by without leaving behind the address of its author.
- The melodies purloin from each other,
- are known by others, and finally by all.
- They fly from one region, from one country, to another;
- by these transforming journeys,
- of their own accord,
- melodies seem to be created and shaped.
- These are magical melodies
- falling like morning dew
- on attentive memories.
